I'm construction the Guillow's kit 902, "Bird Dog", and I do not understand the center wing section, over the cockpit.
What am I missing, here ? Any assistance would be appreciated....

The wings (W-1) sit on the 1/16 sq cross braces and lean against former C and D of the fuselage. The window area you are seeing
on the plan is your covering material. Hope this helps? If not try taking pictures of the problem.

Adam:
What I don't understand is how to maintain the "air-foil" shape over the cockpit.

Re: Kit 902 Bird Dog question
The windshield forms the front wing shape. Then a flat clear plastic piece (It sits on top of the wings). Then the rear window. Your covering material goes on the flat clear piece in the middle.
I had problems building this section too. Try searching pictures of a completed build.

Re: Kit 902 Bird Dog question
My Guillow's kit #902 "Bird Dog" is finished. I see now that the upper part of the windshield, curving over the leading edge, forms the airfoil shape that I was concerned with. I want to do another Cessna L-19, but do it as a civilian version, using colored gift wrap tissue, no paint, and a couple coats of Johnson & Johnson's "Pledge" to seal everything. Here's what she looks like...
