4503 series hellcat

I picked up one of the new Guillows kits last weekend at Hobby lobby. They are going for $8.99, I picked up the Hellcat for a little over 5 bucks with the 40% off coupon. This is actually my first laser kit. I really like how everything is perfectly cut out. I started it earlier today and I should be done tomorrow. It comes with printed clear plastic covering instead of tissue. So I am not sure how that will go together. We are expecting a winter storm here in southern Az. So I hope to fly her next week sometime. So I took a few pictures of what is in the box and some of the assembly.

here is the Hellcat with its clear plastic covering. It was a pain to put on and impossible to be wrinkle free. I think I might take the covering off and use blue tissue later.

The main objective of this series was to be a started series for kids looking to get into model making. Due to this they had to be quick and easy to build along with being great fliers.

Would you say this kit meets these goals or is the plastic covering not pulling its own weight?

No the plastic covering is probably easier for a beginner. I am just saying that I was having a hard time putting it on. I think the 4500 series is great for beginners. When the weather clears up I will take it for a test flight.

It took me about 2 day from start to finish. But that was because of time constraints, I also used Elmer glue. If you were to use super glue this could be built in 20 minutes or less. everything fit perfectly, I had problems except for time. Now I need to find time to do a test glide and trim it for flight. The kit came with some self adhesive weights for balancing. And not only is time my enemy, but where I live here in southern Az. it is always breezy.

Yea it sure is David, But whats funny is last year we got a lot of snow. we are almost 3500' and I think where you are at is about 1200' give or take a foot or 2 ? and depending what part of Marana you are in we can be as far apart as 60 miles.
