My first Christmas Gift from Guillows

Post by scigs30 »

Here are a couple of 500 series laser cut kits I bought from Guillows, they should be in stores shortly. The kits are great with a new box and redrawn plans. The laser cut wood is excellent 9-10lb perfect weight for these kits. I plan on building all these new laser cut kits and see how well they fly out of the box. Well off for Christmas break see you all next year.

The Rufe float plane looks like it would be a good kit. Can you tell me what it cost? Did you purchase online? I've searched on line for Guillows kit but haven't found it yet...

Would like to know the answers to these questions.
Thanks, tago

Redrawn Plans? Do they still give Us ALL pats patterns? even wing Ribs. I find any newer kits do not. I dont know about You, but I very often have to make a new wing. My beautiful Fw-190 400 developed a horrible twist that I think is Ok now, but I dont feel comfortable about it,and luckily its a LC kit but the Old plan has the rib patterns. Also I am having much better Flying Planes as I increase the size. Just say i wanted to make a 1/12 scale and there is no rib pattern on plans? I guess I'd have to trace each one myself and put it away with My plans collection. I dont know. I like LC precision, but I have cut My own parts so much it does not bother Me. I'm on the fence. Maybe I'm getting old, but My Grandson is 9 and almost ready to start building, and I will not teach Him unless He is willing to learn to how to make parts. His Dad is into Helicopters. I really hope He has the desire to Fly what HE made, and not something RTF. I kinda think He will. I must have been a freak to WANT to build My Plane. But in the 1980's there was not many options.

It looks like in the first picture the parts are on the plan still.

Can not wait to see it done. Scigs is My favorite builder to look at his Planes since D.Duckett left the place. They are not even slightly similar in technique, but their finished work is true art in that although so different, They have the same effect on Me.
