Priming tissue

Post by GeorgieC »

I have tissued and shrunk (with water mist) my F6F Hellcat.
What is the simplest way to prime the tissue?
The instruction book says 50% Dope/DopeThinner but the EZE Dope bottle says 30/70% Dope/water.
I'm confused.
Thanks for any advice.

I use the 70/30 mixture and have good results. It also lets the EZE dope go a lot further, especially considering the cost. I've also used the same solution with Elmer's white glue before I tried the EZE dope. I'm still trying to decide if the Eze dope is worth the extra cost. I am leaning to staying with the EZE dope as it tends to give a better finish but the Elmer's is a good substitute.

I tested a piece of tissue with the 30/70 EZE after water mist/dry.
I brushed a little to vigorously and tore the tissue. Second try was successful.
Thanks for the feed back.

Anyone try to use an airbrush to do this? I am using it now for a fantastic way to mist water on to the tissue. Would the 30/70 mixture totally gum up the device?
