i never bothered with mono. i think the stuff is best used for my rod and reel and fly fishing interests.
sounds like the good ole days. of course, i wouldnt really know.
im happy just keeping it simple. i guess if i ever find myself in that situation where wire is the way to go ill get myself some.

1.5 V battery correct? i assume that any more will burn out the coil on the glow head.
the problem is, is that it is getting stuck (as in very stuck) in the middle of compression. that happened after i put fuel in the exaust ports for primeing and inside the carb. i didnt even get the sound of a mini explotion inside the conbustion chamber. the glow head either works, or it looks mangled and doesnt work at all right? there isnt any kind of in between where the coils are less powerful and then they break later? i hvnt had a glow head go out yet soo.... wouldnt know...
bottom of the wings- stringers added. reloaded my sading block with sandpaper... im gunna need it for sanding this thing.

i tried that last when i tried to start it a couple of days ago. nothing happened. by stuck i mean pretty stuck. i am sure it had to to with the fuel. i let it sit for a couple of days, and i will try again tomorrow.
for now, no progress on any planes until tomorrow (perfect anyways... no school friday so i get to do whatever)
no one answered the question about the glow head. i assume that when it is out, it looks mangled, but does it loose power and start to dim more and more, or is it like a light buld and just imediatly turn off?

Not sure what you mean by mangled.
The glow plug coil should be a small, nicely coiled piece of wire. Looks like a spring. It will glow with the 1.5v battery. After the engine starts and you remove the battery clip, the combustion process keeps it glowing to maintain
an ignition source. Thats how I remember it. But, that was 35 years ago since I last worked with a glow engine.
If the crankshaft gets stuck and won't move, you may have too much fuel.
You cannot compress a liquid. If you get too much fuel on top of the piston
the engine will lock up. But you should be able to rotate the crankshaft backwards and unstick it.
Am I anywhere close to answering your questons????
